Ok. I would like to know if anybody else has had similiar experiences. I currently have a 2007 Elantra SE, and already has about 23k on it. I couldn't ask for a better vehicle and haven't had any maintence or mechanical problems.

On the other hand, about tthree weeks ago, I noticed the car alarm for the car would every once in a blue moon go off for no apparent reason. I read other accounts of this problem in previous generations as well as other car models (not necessarily Hyundai). The car alarm is factory installed. I really couldn't see any contact problems with any of the sensors, although I am wondering if the hood sensor got a little wet from a previous downpour.

Right now, it really isn't much of a problem and only goes off every so often but is sort of an embarassment at times. I was going to just take out the fuse to the car alarm, but it seems that Hyundai has tied that to the ignition and won't start unless it is in.

I was wondering if anybody had an insight on other things I might be able to look into until I get into the dealer.

Does anybody else have similiar or related problems with their alarm system?

Not with any Hyundai models or any of my own cars, but i have heard that sometimes the frequency that the alarm's remote is set for can be the problem. Not that someone else can activate it with a remote that is not yours, but other electronic devices may have an effect such as activating your panic feature.

Another cause may be the sensitivity of the alarm unit. I know in older after market alarms, they were sensitive enough to be activated by large trucks or loud stereo/sub woofers passing the vehicle in question.

If at all it is one of those or what you mentioned and possible water damage, i am sure the dealer can check into it and it should be covered by the warranty on the car.

Look at the other post in this forum about alarm problems. The hood sensor/switch is a common problem on newish Hyundais. Take it by the dealer and have them check out the hood sensor and other alarms sensors.
