I'm trying to get new speaker wire through the door jamb of my 01' Elantra.

There is a white clip or connector and cannot see to determine if I can run the speaker wire through.

Are there extra holes in this connector or clip that snaps into the body in the door jamb for the speaker wire to go through?

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

the doors are made at the factory using many of the same jigs as other hyundai models. for that reason, many times there are "other holes" in both the door and door jam that might be used for different applications on different vehicles. dont' be afraid to pop off the plastic hole covers or clips and take a look at what it is and where it goes. just remember that any of the holes you uncover, are now suseptable to water intake, and if you use them...get some silicon goop or something similar and fill in the remainder of the hole around the wire. another installer trick is to buy a rubber stopper that would fit the hole, drill into it the size of ur wire, and plug the hole when you run the wire through. remember too, that the door wire loom (the plasic or rubber tunnel that houses the wires for the stock speakers, power windows, power locks, side mirrors) is a perfect access for running new wires, but it's very important not to disrupt the water seal. the last thing you want is to have water leaking into that loom, and down into the door itself. one final suggestion i'd offer...if you're absolutely sure that you won't be using the stock speaker wires, once your install is complete, disconnect them from the speakers, and attach your new wire, using the stock as a snake to pull it thru, following it's exact path through the door into the cabin. good luck...hope this helps.

I recently had sucess in rewiring the passenger side speaker in my 2001 Elantra.

I managed to get the entire white connector out from the passenger side door wire loom and saw that there are two connectors that go into it and the bottom half of one is not used by any wires.
I then drilled a hole through it and managed to fit my 16guage copper speaker wire through it.
To get the wire through the conduit I pushed a piece of coat hanger wire through it and used it to pull the wire through.

Getting the wire to the stereo was easy after removing the stereo and glove box I saw an easy path straight through. :trophy:

I hope this helps! :57:

Why would you not use the factory wiring?

Well on my passenger side the factory wiring was shorting somewhere and shutting down my amp so I had to replace it.

HereticHulk may have similar reasons or just wants to pump more power.

I have bought new speakers (installed rear speakers and new head unit) but I am whimping out on opening up the doors.

Anyone know is there room inside the door for a small crossover? (about 2" square by 1/2" thick.)
