Drives: Modified (180 b.h.p.) `95 Hyundai S-Coupe Turbo SE ....Sadly now sold & replaced with an `04 Alfa Romeo 156 2-litre Veloce! :-http://aol.photobox.co.uk/album/thumbnails.html?c_album=7089276&page=all

Hi!

Firstly, your heated rear window problem sounds like a broken switch, although a break in the printed circuit on the rear windscreen could also be responsible......an auto-electrician can sort this out quite cheaply.

Erratic idle at traffic lights etc. is normally down to a faulty throttle-position sensor.
This is located in the throttle body & SOMETIMES simply removing & cleaning the electrical connector with a brass suede brush & spraying with WD40 can cure the problem without having to replace the sensor.

The tapping sound from the top of the engine is normal when the engine is cold & first started........the hydraulic `tappets` take a little time to fill with oil & function correctly.
HOWEVER, it is vital that this engine NEVER runs with the oil-level under MAX on the dipstick & I would strongly recommend the use of 5W/40 pure synthetic oil, possibly going to 10W/40 in a hot summer (if oil-usage starts to increase).

Cheers,
Nick. :)
