I am a former DSM guy just switched to Hyundai. Got a automatic 2000 Tiburon, just bought it and the OD switch does not function at all. I need some help. Is this controlled by a fuse? or could I have purchased a lemon with a bad trans? I have checked the Hyundai online manuals and did not see anything. The rest of the gears work fine. I just cant cruise at 4500 rpm down the highway all the time.

any help would be great.

Thank you

The OD switch just turns on or off the overdrive gear. I'm assuming your Tib has the 4-speed automatch. In that trans, 4th gear is overdriven. If OD is ON the the trans will use all 4 gears. If OD is OFF then the trans will only use the first 3 gears and will not shift into 4th gear. Are you getting 4 gears with OD ON? Does the trans shift 3 times or only 2?

The OD switch doesn't appear to do anything, no light on the dash either. I only get 3 gears. Can this be caused by a fuse, or bad switch, or something deeper?

This turned out to be an issue with a bad fuse. I appreciate the help thank you
