Sorry about the screwup in the Title, I meant overhead light and now I can't seem to change the title,,, This just ain't my day :(

I have a 2001 XG300L.

The overhead panel has two lights one above the drivers side and one above the passengers side, with buttons to turn each on....

So the passengers side has burned out, I have obtained a new bulb from my dealer.

I have removed the plastic cover .

Now how does the bulb come out ???

Since I am worried about breaking something I don't want to screw it up...

I tried pulling it straight out and tried to twist it but to no avail.... must be a trick to the bulb removal or I am just too scared of breaking something to get it out

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks in advance.. :(

l can't remember ever changing one but l am pretty sure they are 'capless' bulbs (bulbs with no metal base to them) in which case they just pull straight out and the new one should just push straight in

Ok I went back out and It's got a metal base on it..... Took a magnifying Glass with me so I could look up in there....

It also has two metal bumps on the sides so it had to be turned to get the bumps to align with an opening on the socket.

Of course there isn't any room to get a normal finger on both sides :(

I managed to turn it with needle pliers and then pop it out from behind with a very small screwdriver, using the flat edge to push it from behind....

Bad news is the bulb they got for me at the dealer is wrong, it has a metal base on both sides, so I guess I go back there tomorrow.....

Thanks for replying, I think if I get the right bulb, I got it fixed now .......
