I just got a 2008 Veracruz Ltd. This comes standard with two Proximity keys. First thing I did was to ask for a third key. The dealer claims that I can buy a replacement key, but only two keys can be "active" at at a time for security reasons. I have in the past always purchased extra keys (for CONVENIENCE reasons) for previous vehicles and have doubts that the 2 key limit is related to security (perhaps a design issue).

Looking for a workaround to enable 3 active keys.

Nope, but the dealer did, and I assume they have a better "in" than I do. Wouldn't hurt to try (I think).

I heard the same thing, I got a remote start put in and they used the chip from one remote in the application.. Now I've just got one,, bought a replacement so if I lose the good one at least I have one to get programmed with out waiting for weeks.. Canadian cost was $297.00,, US cost $135.00 not comparable.. Nice feature tho.
