Hello,

I have a 2008 Santa Fe GLS with the 3.3L engine. I noticed that the engine rev at approximately 2100 RPM at 100km/Hr (60MPH).

This seems a bit high........

Is this normal? I have owned several vehicles which were all moslty used for HWY purposes. None of my previous vehicles rev'd this high at the lower hwy speeds.

Thanks

That's about the same as my SF. Doesn't seem too high to me.

Unless your other vehicles were diesels, 2100rpm at hwy speed is quite low.

I have the 3.3 also and it revs below 2000 rpm at 60. At 70 it is about 2200. I almost bought the GLS with the 2.7 and 4-speed auto but it really revved high for a six cylinder. At 70 it was almost at 3000 rpm which surprised and baffled me. I had a Camry 5-speed 4 cylinder which revved lower. The 2.7 was not loud but uncomfortable for me. I like a relaxed cruiser.

Fred, you should have tried the manual 2.7 - it's was at 3,000rom at 60.

I think my 3.3 does 60 at just under 1900.

Finally went on the highway today... Pretty well as close to 2000 RPM even as you can imagine for a corrected 100 kph.

I have a 2007 2.2 crdi auto, at 100 k/h revs around 1700, also has a 2006 Rav4 2.4 auto, and at that speed is around 2100.

MY 2006 2.5L non-turbo Subaru with a 5spd manual revs 2500 at 100KM/h. It was AWD...maybe AWD cars rev more??

My 2008 SE (with the 3.3, of course) sits right on 2,000rpm at 65mph.

Even my 2004 runs low. I turn around 2,500 at 70 mph in 4th gear while my friend's Audi Allroad is rotating about 3,000 at that same speed in 6th!! :w00t: We have a Lexus RX300 in the family that holds about 3,000 at 70 in 4th gear which should say something about how Hyundais are geared.

I just happen to take this picture coming back from LA this week. Had I know about this thread I would have made an image library of RPMs for a 3.3 SE every 10 miles in 5th!
