I hope someone can answer these for me. I have a 2000 Elentra...

#1 - I had a CD changer installed in my car awhile back. Every since then my lighter does not work. ( I can't even charge my cell phone in the car) I took off the center instrament panel and everything looked good. It's not a fuse. How can I get it working again? Any ideas besides taking it back to where I had it installed at? I really don't want to take it back and have to wait for hours if it's a simple fix I can do myself.


#2 - The light behind the radio does not work? To fix it does it simply require taking off the center instrament panel and pulling the stereo out and replacing the bulb?

be more specific as ur 2 problems seem to be connected to each other somehow.

@ #1: try to follow the wires of the lighter. It seems that u have same wires that were before used for lighter and are now used for changer(?). Hope this will do.

@ #2: U probably mean the light to illumine the radio's buttons. I have same problem. My car has the alarm system installed and I've turned it off...just turned off - not disconnected recently and after that the radio numpad is dark :(. Got used to it after two weeks. It would probably take too much of u'r time. Just leave it. Btw: I have a standard Hyundai radio (NO CDs) and no one's gonna steal it, and it is worthless but it works anyway...... :grin:

whoever installed the cd player probably crossed the connections. it happened to me. take it to a hyundai dealer it takes about 20 min to fix. not sure if the electrical system is in the haynes, but it should be in the chiltons for the car
