hello all

I ordered my i30 SX CRDi last week, and now I have the three month wait ahead of me. *sulk* I don't know what to do with myself!! How long did it take you guys to receive yours? The salesman said they often quote 3 months but it is usually quicker than this. I sure hope so! Please post some more photos everyone if you can :-)

cheers,
Jess.

Just 4 weeks wait for me. Then again, we're in different hemispheres!

Got to say it's a fantastic drive. Mines a 1.6 CRDi, with full equipment. I dont' know what options you Oz guys can get when you order your motors.

So it seems to be 6-8 weeks on average which is not tooo bad :-) Gives me some time to organise where to take it when it arrives! Another user mentioned Mildura which is a few hours from here (Geelong) - somewhere near there would be perfect. My dad and I both ordered one so we are eagerly waiting together, though he's not nearly half as anxious as I am! His will be dark grey and mine will be continental silver. Can't wait.

*sigh* :P

Hi all,

Yes, the wait is a pain, but well worth it in the end. I spent most of the time searching the net and looking for revies etc. I knew more about the i30 than the dealer in the end. My wife and kids were laughing their heads off and giving me ****. In the meantime I had a new 1.6 petrol Getz Click to play with (wifes car).

I think the 3 month wait we had (originally told 2 months) result from us wanting a protectz pack on the SLX. They have to be fitted on the assembly line, not added here in Oz or at the end of the line.

Ours was ordered early Dec. 07, has a build of Jan 08 and a Oz Vin plate of Feb 08. We took delivery on the 7th Mar 08.

And yes, the trip to Mildura where my son lives was a good running in trip. Today on my way home from work I will clock up the 1000k. Friday my wife takes it in for its free service.

Aussie Bob

We also ordered the protectz pack. Therefore we would be looking at early June as an estimate. I have also been doing the same Aussie bob - too much reading and I am afraid I will get bored of the car before I get it!

Hi Jess,

We only got our Moonlight Blue SLX Crdi last Thursday 20th March after ordering it early in January. Was supposed to arrive mid Feb but has build date of Feb and Compliance plate of March so that would have been impossible.

Definately worth the wait but like everyone else got sick of reading forums, and looking at pictures etc..

Already done over 1000kms (amazing performance versus economy - unheard of a few years ago)

Haven't seen a silver one in the flesh but that was the colour I wanted (but not prepared to wait the extra few weeks!!) Reckon you will be very pleased with it, looks good in all the advertising and on the brochure etc. Happy with my moonlight blue now (wife's choice) is a bit different to most other blue cars.

Good luck hope it comes early...posted a couple of pix of ours as requested (will get windows tinted in next week or two)

Cheers,

Dazz

Hi John,

Thanks for that... Ended up upgrading the wifes Getz to a silver Tiida (more room for the Grandkids stuff) so probably best that I got a different colour.

Cheers,

Darryl

Dazz,

The moonlight blue looks nice. I would have prefered the moonlight blue but was outvoted by the girls (wife and two daughters). You see, we already have a sky blue Getz and they figured we would get confused when one of us said, "I'll take the blue car." Silver was an option as well but that was the colour of our old car and they wanted a change.

Incidently, what tint colour and type are you getting. I'm looking at one called Black Azz. It is as dark as is legally possible in SA. I've been quoted $340, which includes a window cleaning kit and some waterless car wash.

Hi Bob,

Thanks again for the positives...

Always try and get the darkest legal tint i can (35% max in Tas) Usually go with the film recommended by the tinter although haven't been in to talk to him about the I30 yet. Expect to pay around $300 (your deal sounds pretty good with the extras thrown in)

Got the wife's new Tiida tinted as part of the changeover to the supposedly darkest legal but each time we get a tint seems lighter than the last - although seems to cut out most of the heat (See photos attached - apologies to Hyundai)

Will post another pix in a few weeks when get the i30 tinted (going to Qld by plane in early April - would have taken i30 if had more time off)

Regards,

Dazz

Very nice indeed Darryl!!

My SR has the 35% tint on the side and back windows, which is the legal limit in QLD:

Hi Buddy,

Your Dark Grey SR looks great with the tint (will be a couple of weeks before i'll get time to do mine - might see if i can get one with a hint of blue to match my colour)

Bit of a shame they don't do the SR in a diesel as I'm really happy with mine performance/economy wise but the bodykit and wheels on the SR sure look good. Although the tyres are probably around $100 a piece dearer to replace.

Chow for Now
