We seem to have noticed a oil leak on the drive off centre of the engine bay passengers side (UK) which is clean in colour. I have checked engine oil level which is fine but the blackest colour I have seen engine oil. I have always used semi synthetic in my petrol car and that stays golden all the time.

Also what mileage are people getting, have never noticed the trip showing anything but 43-45 miles to gallon whatever driving conditions.

Thanks.

Alan.

Hi Alan.

It's too soon into my Hyundai ownership experience to know about the "oil" seepage. I'd make use of that 5-year warranty and get the supplier to have a look :57:

As for the consumption, my gauge is consistently showing 58.5 - 59.2 mpg. As with yourself I have a CRDi 1.6.

Alan,

I have owned a few diesels over the years. It is quite common for the oil to become very black.

Hi Alan,

About 2 or 3 weeks after recieving my i30 I noticed a leak in what sounds like the same position. It turned out to be a faulty drive shaft seal.

Hi Peter, is this the gear box drive shaft or the Turbo drive shaft?

Leak was from the drive shaft seal, getting fixed at the dealers now.
