Hi i have just installed an alpine stereo and it seems to be working fine, however i hear alot of static interference.(In all modes tuner/cd/ipod) i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? also does anyone have a schematic as to what all the wires that plug into the factory head unit do? i was also wondering if i need to install a noise canceling filter and i believe the interference is coming from the alternator?

Any thoughts/ suggestions welcome.

Also all i have to do is set the volume to 5/40ish and its insanely loud. i was thinking maybe if i bypassed the factory amps this might solve my problem.

Any thoughts?

I'm sure that must have been an isolated insident. It seems to be functioning fine. But thanks for the advice.

hi well i solved the problem. i connected the head unit to a better ground and it really cleared up the signal.

I also fixed the volume problem by by-passing the factory amps. the rears were easy enough however the fronts were a bit of a problem as the factory has installed splits. with the crossover built in to the amp circuit so there isnt a way of by passing and keeping the crossovers. unfortunately this means that i have temporarily disconnected my tweeters. i plan to fix this by buying my own set of splits.

another thing i found is that all the factory speakers are 2 ohm, which really sux when connecting it to a 4 ohm signal. effectively the speakers still work its just not ideal.

all in all the system sound great. and will sound even better when i get a tweeter reinstated.

fyi: i have 2 12" soundstream 350 WRMS subs connected to a soundstream mono block digital amplifier 700 WRMS at 2ohm. MEGA BASS!!!

yeah i've got the subs backwards. I was told by the salesrep i bought the subs from, "if you want hear it face them to the front, if you want the people outside to hear it face them to the rear"

so i've always had them facing to the front. never tried to the rear. but i'm happy with the setup i've got.

well from what ive heard that not having enough rebound on the subs can damage them because there is nothing pushing the sub back in and as far as the front back thing the bass vibrating off the trunk u will hear it probaly better inside and out i got mines in a ported box and i just put the seat down not saying u should cause urs seems to be workin fine but just a suggestion o do you got a capaciter for the amp or are u running it off the battery my car is a pain i put an optima and i still got dimming lights i going to have to put a spare batt in the trunk well take care

hi there,

i originally bought the car with a factory double din unit, but as you can see i have installed a single din cd player.

below is a link of a factory unit i found on ebay if you just wanted to replace it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-02-03-Hy...216331974QQrdZ1

however if you wanted you could replace it with an after market double din but there will be wiring issues you will have to tackle if you plan on installing it your self.
