Haggis,

Assuming the tank was full at delivery (and I believe it was), we got 5.3 litres per 100 km (that's 18.8 km per litre) on our trip to Mildura. That included varying the speed between 80 and 110 kph. On the return the trip computer gave the same overall reading. Seems as though the trip computer is reasonably accurate when it comes to fuel consumption.

Next week once it is run in I expect to get a better idea.

Bob

Hi Ian & Bob, will be interesting to see what the economy is on trips.
Last Saturday i had another test drive of a i30, this was an SLX i needed to turn on lights to see speedo easy, was hard to read trip computer and i did not check what it showed. but i liked the way it drove, just this car had a strange smell for a new car?
then yesturday i drove a new 08 build Focus diesel, it had a taller ratio 1st gear than what the i30 has and it stalled on me twice, but the Focus handles better than the i30 i could notice that, it was very nice to drive after you got going, it has trip computer, cruise control i like cruise controls! on trips. but when i looked at the trip computer on the focus it was showing 25L / 100K sales person said that would be wrong but was a worry to me as my V8 has never showed higher than 17L /100K and shows 12.2 now as average for sydney commuting and some country and gets 9.8 to 11 on a trip, so 25l from a diesel would be bad news.
i think i need another drive of the Hyundai as the sales guy did not let me drive very far at all, but the ford guy said drive were ever you like, also after talking for a while the Ford dealer will match the SLX i30 price. so i need to have another drive but further.
Ian i like the look of your car with the new wheels!
John
