The speed check on the Princes Hwy (Geelong to Melbourne) reports mine at around 94km/h when the speedo reads 100km/h.
Glad to know I'm not the only one with this issue.

Good to hear, the i130 diesels all going ok trouble free. about speedo, could be caused by wheel & tyre change if diamiter of the new tyre is different to stock ( like larger diam will have a greater travel in one turn, or smaller diam will have less travel in one turn) are the speedo's electric or gearbox cable driven? if electric could ask service department if they can calabrate them, if cable driven would need to change gear ratio at gear box, but most new cars would be electric or electronic now. i'm still thinking about buying one, i'm slow at these things but still like the i130 drove my friends Mazda3 2lt diesel 6 speed not long ago was nice but i like the i130 gearbox better, my friend thinks the Mazda feels stronger than the i130 but in what way i do not know.

Hi Haggis, i thought you must have been one of the first, i just got home from another road test in an i130 slx manuel diesel the gearbox and the motor feel better or nicer to drive than the Mazda , the mazda could have been just a little bit faster but i'm not after a fast car just a reliable and nice to drive good economy car, the slx was a bit pricy and i could not really notice much difference for the $, like no cruise control or trip computer so salesman said, he also said if this one goes will be a 4 month wait. i'm just going to test drive the ford focus see what thats like and what they will give me one for. when you drive to victoria they have a speed check that seems accurate. i have a GPS but have not used it to check speedo's but they should be an accurate way of testing.

Hi all,
The speedo is definitely out. Our SLX has 16" rims, by the way. I agree with Haggis, it seems more accurate at lower sppeds, but is still out.
At 80mph on speedo GPS gave a reading of 76-77, at 90 the GPS read 86, at 100 GPS read 95-96 and at 110 GPS read 105.
It would be interesting to see if an electronic adjustment could be made.
We discovered another issue today which has me baffled. And this one is very interesting indeed. I say we, because my wife discovered it. As we left Mildura on the way home (she wanted to gain some experience driving in traffic), she complained that the car would not pull away in 2nd gear. I thought she was dreaming. When it approached 3000rpm, the accelerator just wouldn't increase rpm. She tried it in several gears, and nothing.
On the open road this was not a problem as at highway speed, the engine gets nowhere near 3000 rpm. There was no warnig light on the dash and up to 3000 rpm, the engine responded normally. The fuel consumption on the trip computer did not show anything abnormal.
At the Vic/SA border, we changed drivers and I tested it out and and sure enough, up to 3000 rpm, everything was normal. Then our teenage girls wanted an icecream in Loxton. As I wouldn't let them eat it in the new car, we stopped down by the river and ate the icecreams.
Now, this was the first time we had stopped the engine since the problem was first noticed. When we started up and drove off, everything was back to normal. Whatever it was, I have no idea, but it would appear the engine management system must have reset itself.
Anyone else experienced anything like this?
I shall get my wife to explain it to the service department on Friday when she takes the i30 in for its 1000 km service.
I'm mystified! :puzzled:
