I am tring to replace the rear wheel bearing on a 2002 xg350L and it is just not going very well.
I got the rotor off after figuring out that is a drum (for the e-brake) and a rotor!!(wtf)
I tried a slide hammer to remove the bearing after removing the four bolt form the rear and the whole thing came right off!!!(e-brake and the bearing "hub").
Do i need to replace the whole thing or does the wheel bearing come out.
I need help badly i am just very confused!!!
I have never seen any set like this!!! Please help

ooops! you should not have started this job. you need special service tools to remove the 'tone wheel' at the back end of the hub and then the hub bearing lock nut is situated under the tone wheel...put it back together and leave this one to your dealer.......why are you changing the bearing? what's the vehicles mileage? wheel bearings are not normally prone to fail except under very high mileage

No you do not need to remove the "tone wheel"
That is the gear "tone wheel" is for the ABS brakes and slides right through the hole.
You use a slide hammer and a torch to remove the wheel bearing "hub" form the brake housing.
It really was not that bad to do after I got the torch out and turned that thing white.
You only remove the hub bearing lock nut if you are replaceing just the bearing inside the hub, but you can not buy just the bearing it comes with the hub and the "tone wheel" already set.
FYI the dealer wanted like 700.00USD for the job.
The car has about 80,000mi on it and the rear driver wheel bearing was just shot.
P.S the picture that you put up is not for the xg 350 the brake setup on the rear of this car has a 'top hat" design with shoes inside the rotor "using the inside like a drum for the E-brake" and normal pad on the outside of the rotor.

glad you got it sorted yourself. as l have never had to change a back bearing on an XG l was only going by the info. on the HMA service web site which clearly states special tools required. however you have managed to get around this as is often the case, good result then!
