I have a 1995 3DRAccent and I need new tires! 4 of them. The standard in the manual is "P155/80/R13" but lists an option of "P175/70/R13."

Even with new tires my car seems to suck on snow, ice, even rain (rear wheel drive baaabyy!) would using the option tire help with any of this?

What the **** does option tire mean?

What are the drawbacks.

Any rubber experts out there?

Thanks in advance.

crap wont let me delete.

Appparently, and this is why one should search a forum before one posts, even if its a optional tire, you need new rims to fit... ? So that pretty much knocks out the optional size, as, I'd rather not buy new rims.

... ammm I right on all this?

My guess is you could use the 175/70/13's on the same rims as the 155/80/13's, but you should consult a tire dealer to be absolutely sure.

You'd need to get "ALL SEASON" designated tires for good rain and snow traction. Most "PERFORMANCE' designated tires just don't get it for anything but high-speed handling on a pretty dry road-surface.

Make sure the tread-wear rating on the tires you buy is at least 60,000 miles.

Well i've got an apointment with sears tomorrow at 7:30am to put on some 155-80-13 "BFGoodrich Revelation Touring" tires (all four.)

he said they would come to 230 all together which isnt to bad, they didn't say all weather but they did say and i qoute

"Backed by a 60,000-Mile Warranty, the Revelation Touring delivers a smooth ride, excellent wet and snow traction, and an accurate, in-command driving feel - all at a remarkably affordable price. "

I'll ask tomrrow thought if they nare alll weather, and for fun ill ask about the option size fitting on rim.

heres to hoping it really comes to only 230!!

thanks again

Alllright just to recap I wound up getting the "155-80-13 BFGoodrich Revelation Touring III" tires. I guuesssss, and this was a suprise to me, I the tires I had were non other than the Option size tire. Which means apparently you do not need to have a differant size rim after all to fit the option tire.

fun fact, did not know that, good call moonz!

alll together it was 298.98 for 4 tires, balancing, road hazard, and wheel alignment.

More than I was wanting to pay, but less or within the range of willing to pay.

I turned down a $70-$80 fuel injection cleaning, which, sorry sears but I'll get then when I wanna, at somewhere that isn't sears.

Experiance over all wasn't that pleasnt, but they got the job done so I have to give them that.

The tires? Apparently they are thinner, so better in the snow of courrse!

And that they are, the night I got them it snowed here pretty good, and drove home with no problems, the car is still rear wheel drive so of course I had to still take some needed procaution.

BUT while driving about 58-68 the wheel seems ''noodley'' and 'noodley-sensitive'' kinda odd, and if it keeps up I'm going to take it back and get it checked on to make sure all is safe and well.

I'm thinking it's just my not being used to the thinner tires seeming to skate on the road, like the car just isn't holding on with enough beef.

But mother **** almighty, driving in the snow was fantastic compaired to before.
