From the day I got my car i always thought it had a small miss at idle. But all the dealerships said I was crazy and it was idling normal. Well a fe weeks ago I drove it to SF from PHX and after the long highway drives pulling up to a drive thru to eat the car idle was much worst there was a very hard miss almost like a little jolt. It never died but everytime after hours of driving it would miss. Any ideas?

that happened to my old Cavalier.. Turned out that the Torque Converter was overheating when it was driven for any length of time. Our solution was "unplug the torque converter".. didnt have the problem once after that... (of course, the engine was pushed a little harder after that, but luckily, was mainly lower mileage driving and it still lasted 3 years afterwards)

Do the same Thing I did:

Took the car to the dealer due to some Vibrations

They looked at me crazy

I told them to bring another 06 and park it next to mine

Poped the hood and pointed problem on mine

They saw the other car wasnt doing the same

WalaH! now who is crazy?

if you are asking me, my car problem was with the harmonic balancer, the dealer couldnt see the problem until they took a look at another harmonic balancer running next to mine. My car still has that RPM problem that yours has too, I just can't find a way to explain it.

I would do the following:
1. Check for disconnected vacuum hoses.
2. Check the PCV valve.
3. Check ignition wires.

my 06 sonata with the 3.3 like yours did the same thing when i bought it. i had to power brake it to get it to the dealer because it was bucking and almost dying at idle when i took it on a 45 minute drive, but no check engine light ever came on. they said it was the o2 sensors. they replaced 2 o2 sensors and knock on wood 2 yrs later and smooth as silk.
