My girlfriend has a 2002 Sante Fe with the 2.7L V6 engine. It has just turned 100,000 miles. I'm wondering what others have experienced out there with this specific vehicle after 100,000 miles or so. In other words, if properly maintained, will this car keep going reliably or is it going to start falling apart? So far I've had the front stearing ball joints replaced, the transmission cooler replaced and coolant flushed, the timing belt replaced recently and the water pump. It's had regular oil changes but other than that I wouldn't say she's babied the car. I'd like it to last a while longer. Any thoughts out there?

I know several people, one of whom has a 2002 2.7L 4WD with close to 180,000 miles now and it's still trucking. He abuses the heck out of it, too. There's another with an '01 four-banger (I know that's not what you asked for but anyway) with 250,000+ on them. Simple maintenance and they will take care of you.

My '01 GLS has 145,000 (km) on it. I bought it new. I've had several minor issues, but its still nowhere near time to say goodbye. Last emission check was too low to measure. Just keep up the scheduled maintenance.
