Hi All,

I spoke to the dealer again about the fuel consumption problem on the Tucson. He agreed with me but stated quite honestly that unless people complain then Hyundai Korea will do nothing as Hyundai UK is merely a distribution centre in effect.

I'm writing to Korea and suggest that we all do to try and put a bit of pressure on them to alter the EMU as the dealer feels that is where the problem is. He admitted that the car they used for test drives was a concern due the high fuel consumption and he raised it with Hyundai UK.

I'm also writing to a number of motoring magazines and particularly the journalists who recommended the car on the basis of the good fuel consumption.

:) Hi - I have just joined the forum as I am looking for a way in which to voice my concerns about the fuel economy of my Tucson. I purchased it in January and within the same week noticed very high fuel consumption. 7 weeks on it has not changed / got better. I do reasonably long drives most days and I am getting (uk) 26-27 miles to the gallon. This is compared with the stated extra urban of 38 mpg - no where near it.

I complained to Hyundia and the dealer said wait until 5000 miles and it will get better? I am not at 5,000 miles yet but I will sell it if it does not get better.

Hi Gooner :00000732:

See where I live on the left is it anywhere near you?(I have got my shirts)

How old is your vehicle? Is it a 2006 model?.Is it Auto or Manual?

Got to say that All dealers say that the vehicles have to be run in properly before you will see an improvement. The Tucson does better mpg after this as many owners have found out.

The complaints you can see on this forum relate in the main to the First vehicles sold by Hyundai, and after pressure they have conceeded and have provided a modification which they are currently installing in some of the early crtd vehicles.

This we are told will improve the mpg and our perception of the same, and I genuinely look forward to mine being installed.

This little SUV is fun to drive and handles well stick with it. :auto:

I accept Personal messages ok.
Regards
Itza :460:
