Check out the first official pictures of Hyundai’s new city car – the i10.

Set to go on sale in the UK in March 2008, the little Korean model will be available from just under £6,500. Even basic variants come with air conditioning as standard along with front electric windows, central locking and electric power steering.

Replacing the old Amica, the i10 will be the smallest model in the range. A compact 3,565mm long and 1,595mm wide, the i10 has a wheelbase of 2,380mm. Despite its size, the i10 is equipped to carry five occupants.

Power comes from a 66bhp 1.1-litre petrol engine mated to choice of manual or automatic gearboxes.

Go for the standard fit manual and combined economy is claimed to be in excess of 60mpg while CO2 emissions are 119g/km. This is low enough to qualify the i10 for a £35 per year VED ‘tax disc’ and exemption from the new London Congestion Charge proposals due to take effect in February.

All i10 variants come with a five year warranty.

I've got the i10 Comfort on order. The first ship load (900 off) were already all sold, so I've got to wait for the next one. End May or beginning of June.

My 2 local dealers have already sold 24 between them in the first week! Looks like being a big seller.

Roll on June. Can't wait.

I am also waiting for that ship to dock.

Can anyone tell me what fuel consumption to expect. Have read one review that said they could not get the stated consumption.

Many thanks

Auto Car only managed to average 43.1mpg, but I found another review where they'd managed 48+.

That was the article I read. I can get 45 to 48 out my 1.2 Corsa now. I am sure I must be able to better that with the i10 when I get it.

Yep, we have a red i10 Comfort on order - can't wait!

Reviews I have read have all been very positive, but some do say fuel consumption isn't as good as stated but then what car is? Published figures are produced in absolute ideal conditions so in the real world consumption will be a bit less.

Then again, try September :rant2:

This is what my dealer told me on Saturday. He had previously said August which was bad enough, so I went down there, pointing out it was now August, and asking when my car would be here. 5 months wait!

It had better be good when I get it.

Interesting. Our initial order for a 1.1 Comfort, made in April, had delivery moved from June to August (so pick up would be 1st Sept). We then changed the order to a 1.2 Comfort in June and we were told we should be ok for August delivery, 1st Sept on the road.

Latest now is September delivery so maybe 1st Oct for delivery.

OK, we did change our order, but it feels like ages. If we don't get it on the 1st October who do we complain to? Can we cancel and go elsewhere as we are starting to feel like we should. I could walk out now and buy a 5 door 1.2 Corsa with aircon and a few months/miles on the clock for less than we are paying for our i10.

I'm not easily pleased but i'm very happy with the i10

Can not agree more, had mine 2 months now. Done 4000 miles and could not be happier. The little car does grow on you. My one niggle is the parcel shelf. It does not go up and down with the tail lift. You have to do it by hand this does not sound much but it really annoying to look in the rear view mirror and see it up.

Apart from that it is brilliant.

I've taken my parcel shelf out so that isn't a problem for me :) . I put my dogs in the boot so I can't have the parcel shelf there anyway.
