You are true!

Ive heard some rumors about this!

Hyundai to Premier Four New Models at 2008 Geneva International Motor Show

"...Another new model is the 2008 Hyundai Matrix. Its up-to-date exterior styling is complemented by a full new colour range – while the interior is adapted to bring it into line with other current Hyundai models..."

Concept:

(IMG:http://www.conceptcarsblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/hyundai-hed-5-copia.jpg)

Hyundai's announced what it's bringing to the party in Geneva, and it sounds like quite a bit. First up is the HED-5 concept, a wedge-shaped doorjam of an MPV that apparently boasts good fuel economy, seats for six (from Recaro, based on how the announcement reads), and other features cooked up by some big industrial partners. The automaker will also unveil a restyled version of the Euro-market Matrix MPV (not to be confused with the USDM Toyota of the same name) and debut a new equipment package designed to cut vehicle emissions by up to 29% and encourage increased fuel economy. Details are scarce, but we'd have to guess that it's something akin to the Efficient Dynamics approach used by BMW, which can be applied across the range of vehicles. We'll know more in a few weeks when the gang arrives in Geneva.

PRESS RELEASE:
Hyundai at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show

HED-5 concept: six-seater with advanced materials and versatility
World premiere of a range of Eco-Dynamic vehicles
World premiere of the new Matrix

A stunning new concept car, low-emission versions of Hyundai production models and a facelifted version of the Matrix will make the Hyundai stand a 'must-see' at the Geneva motor show next month.

Star attraction will be the HED-5, a six seat MPV that promises a new level of versatility combined with exceptional fuel economy. The revolutionary materials and construction techniques have been developed in co-operation with innovation partners such as Recaro, Bayer and LG.

As a company that has always prided itself on environmental friendliness and innovation, the challenge of reducing emissions from its range was irresistible to Hyundai.

A new package of innovations to be revealed at the show demonstrates how existing technology can make a significant (up to 29 percent) reduction in CO2 emissions, without punitive penalties in price, performance or driving enjoyment. This "near production" package represents a realistic and achievable advance in reduced emissions and fuel consumption.

Another model making its debut will be the 2008 Matrix mini MPV. The exterior styling is given a contemporary new look and is complemented by a refreshed range of colours. The interior is also adapted to bring it into line with other current Hyundai models.

A press conference will take place at the Hyundai stand in Hall 1, Booth 1031.1 on March 4th at 15.45 PM.

mhalawa,

I wont get my hopes up too high as yet.

Hyundai says its a restyling of the Matrix. So we wont know until we see it on March 6.

Even then, it may take some time before it reaches your place.

p/s found in automotiveworld.com: the upcoming Matrix would still be a facelift.

Actual replacement is expected in 2010.

The facelifted Matrix can be found at: http://www.tuningnews.net. Can compare that wt the current look.

Sorry cant put the pic coz my pc got prob. I'll try anyway...

A totally new model would be based on the concept i-Mode, out in 2010, to be known as i35.

Looks like a short, fat shark with mouth open. Like with the previous Starex model, Hyundai seems to have this thing about large and wide-mouthed grill openings. From what I read on the new Matrix, nothing new mechanically and in the interior.
