Mornin' all ^_^
I just joined today after finding your forum hiding on page two of my google results. That'll teach me to set google to "uk only" :57:
Anyway, I organised a test drive 2 weeks ago at a dealership in Blackpool (west coast UK). I arranged to drive a 1.6 "comfort" petrol i30. Before the test date I read so many good reviews of the diesel version that I changed my test to a 1.6 CRDi diesel i30 comfort.
Arrived at the dealership and all they had was a 2.0L CRDi "premium". They said they'd had trouble sourcing a 1.6 but I said what the heck - I'll be able to judge the build quality and ride style anyway. The test went very well I must say. Solid. Quiet. Smooth.
So in I went after the test and made a deal where they'd take my battered MGZR in px and do 0% finance. Result.
Got home that night (the dealership is near where I work) and the phone was going mad.
The dealership said that all i30 "comfort" models destined for the UK were still on ships, and they couldn't guarantee they'd get allocated any.
:o
They offered to do me a deal on a 1.6 CRDi "premium" with a £600 Hyundai discount on the upgrade.
No. No. No. I said.
No. I don't need a self-dipping rear view mirror - I know when I'm being blinded.
No. I don't need reverse parking sensors - I can park pretty good on my own thank you.
No. I don't want anti-glare windscreen - it'll affect my satnav.
No. I don't need leather seats - my **** gets hot by itself without leather to help it.
No. I don't need leather steering wheel - sweaty hands are my forte.
Yes. Automatic door mirror-folding would be nice, but I've lived without that technology for 3 decades and have never had my mirrors clipped.
No. No. No. Seventeen inch alloys is just 2 inches more to clean.
No. Climate control sounds interesting.
Actually, it sounds very interesting. So does the electrically heated windscreen. So does the drivers armrest.
So I went for it.
AND NOW to the question
Was I being lied to? Is there a shortage of the lower-specced comfort and style models?
Either way, I'm glad I ordered the top spec package for what amounts to £1800 extra  .
