Hello everyone,

I have a 1997 Tiburon and I have been getting a CEL for the past week or so. When I initially read the codes I got a low voltage on the upstream sensor and then the second time a high voltage on the upstream sensor again. After clearing the codes the car run without the CEL coming on for a couple of days and since then I keep getting a P0141 code every day. I know this is a problem with the heater circuit for the downstream O2 sensor and I am hoping that it is cause by the cold weather here in Chicago (although the hope is there just because I don't want to spend the 60 dollars on a new sensor).

Now here is my question. How do I access the wiring for the downstream sensor? I checked underneath the car and I see that the wires do not run on the outside of the cars but rather on the inside. Does anyone know which panels on the inside I need to remove in order to get access to the connector?

Thank you.

I just replaced both in a 1998 so I am a little confused- the wireharness for the downstream sensor sits not too far off the firewall. Jack the car up and squeeze back there- you should have access. You probably just need a new sensor.

Wait so you have an 02 sensor at the bottom of the collector and one before the cat? Place the 2nd o2 sensor behind the cat and see if that works. You might need to extend the wires to the 02 sensor then to go behind the cat but it should clear the CEL for you. Let me know, it's a common problem. Otherwise check on ebay for an 02 sensor I got a few for like $15 a piece.
