Here's a thread on a V8 conversion kit for a Ford Focus . This should give you some idea of the complexity involved .
http://www.ford-v8-focus.com/Basicly you remove most of your floor & firewall , mount front and rear subframes and subframe connectors , build a drive shaft tunnel , attach new front suspension , steering rack & brakes , attach rear axle housing , suspension and brakes , mount engine and transmission to new fabbed mounts , build a custom drive shaft , install a fuel cell , run new brake and fuel lines , mount new steering column and pedal assembly , install radiator , clutch and shift linkage , custom build headers and exhaust system then find an engine management computer and wiring harness . That would be a quick overview of some of the stuff you would have to do but it would be a fun project .
