Hello everybody, first time on this forum, so be resonable with me . my Ac went down on me, I took it to a mechanic to see what's the problem with it, after he looked at it he said that the compressor is seriously damaged, so i have to buy a new one, after a few calls he said that he found one, for the price of 1100$ and something else that goes with the compressor can't remember what it was...I told him that is too expensive. At that time i didn't know if it's a trick or anything like that...I said that i'm gonna think about it and I'll get back to him on that. He said that his fee to put it on the car is 350-400 $ cause he has to clean the ventilation as well. Then I looked over the internet for a compressor I found a new one for 450 $, I thought that I don't need a new one cause the car isn't that new...i looked further I i found several used ones between 99-150 $. What I wanna know is how much would it cost to put it on the car, cause obviously he lied to me. Does anyone know aprox. how much would it cost? Thank's in advance....

I know it's months later, but he was definately trying to pay the bills off of you.

it should be a 2 to 3 hour job max to r and r a compressor.

and the 10 minutes it takes to get 25 inches of merc, in the a/c system gives a good mechanic time to put his tools away clean.

$350 for a new compresssor.
$250 approx for labor.
$50 for fluid and r-134
