QUOTE(Blue07 @ Feb 14 2008, 03:39 PM) $445 after tax? If the springs cost about $245 (includes shipping), that puts labor at only $200. That is very cheap! I paid $300 to have the springs installed and other $70 for the alignment. Good job!
That's silly, paying INSTALLATION and ALIGNMENT seperately. These mechanics are thieves with licenses.. Friend got a flat going up to vermont few weeks ago. Pulls out the spare, turns out its flat too. Gets towed to a shop they claim they can only sell FOUR tires at a time. LOL. Finally got it towed to a shop that sold them two tires. how ridiculous is that?

Well I went into the place and told them that I can get the springs online for 233.10 (drivewire.com) and asked if they could do 415 installed. I had already talked to them about the cost of just getting them installed and me buying them on my own and they said it'd be 150 for the install. However, I wanted to give the shop a little bit more money so that I could keep them in good graces (which paid off on the leather). So I actually could have had the springs for 383 + tax. Also, this place does all the dealer added options (one or two a day) so I trust them a lot. They also did my spoiler install and it came out very nice and the best part about it is that they will work on the prices with you and they do such a good job. Once I get up some more money I'm going to pay them to get the tail lights darkened and put on my L.E.D.'s.

Lol are you being sarcastic? 3K is a cool guy, he's pretty much the only reason my car looks nice. Anyways, why didn't you just call hyundai roadside assistance? Or you should just get AAA.

Calling Hyundai Roadside where I am is the same as calling AMA (our branch of AAA), they contract to AMA for the service.
AMA is horribly busy and generally has 6-8 hour service times... Sitting in a ditch in Canada for 6-8 hours without your car running generally results in a frozen driver-sicle. Freezing to death = bad idea :)
Color scheme for the skins sounds cool, but is that price including install? Because if not, that seems hugely expensive. You can get hyundai skins for about $600, and install should be in the $200-300 range. I know Katzskins are more expensive, but that seems awfully high :(
Installed price for the springs isn't too bad, and sometimes paying a little more to keep a good reputation with a shop can be very beneficial.

Remember he's talking about two-tone leather with contrasting stitching and the crooked-H logo in the headrest. I priced the Katzkins for mine and it came out around $1100 (+install) IIRC. That was for two-tone "premium" leather without the logo, but with the heated seat option. This was also about 4 or 5 months ago, so pricing may have increased a bit after the new year. Either way, I thought it a bit much for a car I'm only planning on keeping another year. I'll buy the new one with leather from the get-go.

As above, I am aware that Katzskins are higher priced, but double the price?? ouch! For me, compared to paying $1200 + install for skins, I would rather have just gotten the LX with factory leather... it would have been cheaper.

Except for the fact that the Sonata's leather feels almost like vinyl. The Katzkins leather is very soft and supple. I ordered one of their sample books and the premium stuff feels as nice or better than Lexus quality leather. In relative terms, I've seen lower quality stuff installed for a much higher price. When I sold Lincoln/Mercury, we would have leather installed on used cars or some lesser model new Milans for $1600 (dealer cost) for two rows of seats. I still agree that $1200+ is just too much - that's why I decided against it for mine. If I had planned on keeping the car longer term, I would definitely have gotten it though.
