Hello everyone, My name is Neil. I'm a 23 year old Law Student. I just wanted to commend the people who stand behind Hyundai. I purchased a 2000 Accent wit the intentions of creating a rally car. I'm in the process, but, I am the third owner, and there were a few problems. The throw out bearing is shot, and the passenger side hood hinge is bent, this caused the hood corner to bend nearly straight up when it was opened. It also damaged the plastic fairing between the windshield and the hood, as well as bent the fender. I took it in to the dealer expecting to have to pay an arm and leg for sevice, to my suprise... Not only did they agree to replace the bearing, they also offered to install my performance clutch FREE!! also, they coverd the hood hinge, but to top everything off, they are geiing a new hood, fender and repainting the whole fornt end!!! HOW MARVELOUS!!! what service!! Ok now the kicker.... THEY noticed that my rear speaker grills were cracked from sun fading...get this....they ordered me new ones.....free!! This is wonderful!! I don't understand those people who say that Hyundai has a crappy warranty. For gods sake! Rear speaker covers??? for the third owner no less. And I only have about 4000 miles left on the warranty. AMAZING!!

Ok, now a few questions about my racing project. I really like these APC steering wheels that Jc Whitney sells for around 70.00. The ad reads that they requre a kit "if the car DOES NOT have an airbag" Does this mean that I dont need a kit considering my car has an airbag?? Also, what size rim can i fit without getting into trouble. I'd like 17" but the 7.5 inch widness makes me worry about steering clearance..... How wide can they be 7, 6.5 or 6?? Thank you all so very much.

Drive Small, Drive Hard, Drive on...Hyundai.

Hi Neil, welcome to the forums!.

You definitely need a boss kit to fit an aftermarket steering wheel, but they don`t blend in very well with the steering column shroud (see pic. below) & getting rid of the airbag, removing it`s `clockspring` & rewiring the horn-push is not an easy job by all accounts!.

If you do attempt this, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE YOU START & remember you will have to get your dealership to turn off the airbag warning light which will come on when you re-connect.

I would not go bigger than 16"x7" wheels & you will probably need to fit lowering springs to make it look right. The correct wheel offset is +42mm..

Cheers,
Nick. :)
