Got a "Y" Reg 1.3 ...... It has a intermittent stalling problem.... It can go for days behaving itself fine. Then it just stalls.... Then refuses to idle (Runs fine if ya driving) as soon as you put the clutch in (Say for changing gear) ...... On come the dash lights.... As you lift the clutch it just bump starts it & it runs hunky dorey...... When it has a stalling fit @ the lights & i'm in a bad mood  I give it a Boy RACER stylee rev & that usually sorts it out ....... Anyone got any thoughts ? :whistling:

Its serviced regularly, just turned 70K miles .... & is generally pretty reasonable other than this minor issue

Dear J.M.,

Are you getting a Check Engine Light on the instrument cluster? Very unusual not to get this light with your symptoms. If no, does the CEL light work? When you turn the ignition ON first thing in the morning, does the CEL light illuminate but go off after engine start?

Byron

Now its taken to ....... just well stopping at any time it feels like it....... Was doing 80+ Mph up the motorway & it just died :( (All the red lights on & silence)

I pulled over OK & started it again...... Then it wouldn't idle, I kicked its Korean hiney :P with one of my boy racer revs & it was fine..... I didn't hear a peep out of it all the way home..... I get the feeling one day its going to stop & thats gonna be that.

Somone must have some kind of an Idea ? .......... Anyone :57:

I have the exact same problem but mine usually is hard to start in the morning then it can just stall on the highway at 70mph...No CEL at all when this happens. No codes pulled either from autozone. From prior research been told it may be the crank sensor.

(IMG:http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/MMMJ/kps001.jpg)

So I'm kind of hoping this will do the job :) .......... I intend to fit it this weekend, the car is if anything getting a little worse...... So hopefully all will be well after this ....... I get the feeling its going to be a battle to' it isn't in the easiest place to get at

I was more thinking of a problem that would cause the injectors to shut off abruptly, causing the eigine to stall. A malfunctioning sensor could probably cause a situation like this.

Its a immediate engine stall ....... No coughs or similar & always the same ...... instant engine off...... Just like if you had turned the key to off.

Its even done it @ 85Mph in 5th gear .......... Zoomin' along & blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...... Red lights on, clutch in more red & Orange lights, heavy steering, sloppy brakes........ In to 4th up wiv the clutch & it bumps itself with its own momentum, lights out & it carries on like nothing happened.

If this car does have a fuelling issue, its likely to be the filter, as i can't seem to find it..... there's a couple of items not quite where they are publicised to be ......

I would quite like it if the thing Spontaneously combusted & soon ....... But I ain't gonna get that lucky :whistling:
