I have a 1999 Accent 1.5 3door..i recently replaced my alternator . and was blowing fuses (chalked up to alternator regualtor),Issues started last week left the car was left all weekend sitting. I went to drive to work and i noticed i dont have over drive.. now i belive the issue to be electrical not mechanical tho i have no way of knowin. when i engage the switch on shift lever no light comes on dash like befor .. on/ off.. tried to reset ecu . nothing.. wondering if there is a fuses associated with this or first step .. havent had any previous tranny issues in the past..

Thank you

Especially since you had numerous blown fuses from the alternator regulator failure (must have been generating >15 volts to blow fuses], go to

Fuse 5 10 amp A/T shift lever

Also, go to hmaservice.com. The entire fuse and relay component list is explained under ETM tab, Fuse and Relay information.

since you have a 99 Accent, you probably need to inspect each fuse in your dash fuse box. 15 volts in your system may have caused thermal fatique in your fuses. this is a hairline break in the fuse wire that may not be easily visible. Also, a fuse tester can be fooled by a thermal fatique break.

well have tried replacing every fuse in panel and took apart shifter.. no go still.. again no light on the dash indicating over drive is on or off.. so even if it was mechanical wouldent the light still engage?
