QUOTE(Valk @ Feb 22 2008, 09:37 AM) Awesome thanks Maderhatter. I just found the same pics today on edmunds inside line website. If the production version is Debuted at the New York Auto Show, then I wonder when we can expect it to hit the showrooms? Another 6 months? any speculation?
I want to test drive a turbo model it may make a great addition to my family beside my Sonata. :)
PLease do take alot of photo's!!!
Just taking a wild guess I would say a couple of months after the sedan goes on sale. Just for the fact that they released the production model of it ~two months prior to when the coupe will be released.

QUOTE(mfp @ Feb 24 2008, 08:54 AM) I'm wondering how they are going to ease out the Azera and Tiburon models . They are such low volume sellers now that imo there is no way Hyundai will keep them in the lineup together , especially in the U.S. and Canada . There is just too much overlap in features and pricepoint to have Genesis/Azera and Coupe/Tiburon competing for customers . I don't think dropping 'Azera' is detrimental to Hyundai marketing a luxury sedan but i think 'Tiburon' is a recognizable 'sport coupe' marketing nameplate and should live on in the new coupe .
Yah I don't think the new coupe should be named "tiburon" I think genesis coupe will be good for marketing. Just because the new coupe is completely different than anything the old tiburon was. The only thing in common will be they are coupe's. I agree the tiburon name helps with recognition but it should come out as a new FWD product for entry level.

QUOTE(mfp @ Feb 25 2008, 08:58 AM) Well , we disagree , i think calling it the Genesis Coupe might be a mistake when Tuscani or Tiburon are well established in the market . I think Hyundai was pretty faithfull to the present Tiburon/Tuscani/Coupe as far as body styling and the interior are concerned . The interior shot of the new car shows seats and door panels that look very similar to the GK Tib . I think you are expecting too much of this new coupe or don't understand just how good the present car is .
I think we can agree to disagree. The only pictures that are new are the outside winter ones. The interior shots of the car were taken in death valley quite a few months ago before the concepts debut at the LAAS and were posted on edmunds. Thats why the snow seems to have magically disappeared. I will agree the tiburon is a good car, I just find FWD a limiting factor. I won't just run out and buy a new coupe I definitley want to take it for a test drive and review it for myself. From what I have heard they Hyundai isn't going to replace the tib with the genesis coupe they might still come out with a replacement and said to look at the Veloster concept as inspiration. Thats why the new coupe needs its own name. As well being in a different class of vehicle. However most of that is speculation from Edmunds.

Rumors are running rampant. I've heard everything from June through late summer. The June source was fairly credible, but I guess we'll see when Hyundai officially announces it.

QUOTE(mfp @ Feb 25 2008, 05:59 PM) Ok , i have no interest in the coupe anyway , i have a luxury rwd v8 coupe and a fwd sport coupe with no intention of ever selling either one . My point was simply that imo the fwd Azera and fwd Tiburon will be replaced by the Genesis models . What those vehicles are badged as in various markets is not really important . What does interest me is the possibility of picking up a late model Azera or Amanti at a bargain price to replace my wife's totalled van .
Cool an Azera definitely would be sweet at discounted price

QUOTE(Dan00Hawk @ Feb 27 2008, 08:33 AM) I'm anxious to see (and eventually drive) the new coupe in person. The main reason I'd be considering it is because of RWD. I wouldn't care if they called it a Tiburon, Scoupe, or Excel so long as it performs well. If anyone was caught up in having a "prestigious" nametag, they probably wouldn't consider a Hyundai in the first place. Their loss! :)
I agree 100%. I can't wait to take one for a spin...
