does anyone know how much a replacement remote for the central locking costs ,
for ages mine would unlock the car but not lock it , I changed the battery about 3 weeks ago and after a bit of fiddling with the little terminals inside I got it to lock and unlock , yesterday it decided it wasn't going to do anything and know amount of connection bending would make it change its mind

Hi,
I've found the ETAC unit on my 2000 Trajet 2.0 GSI but the sticker that tells you if the switch is OFF or SET is missing. The 2 remotes that came with the car seem to work (the red LED comes on when you press the button) but they don't open the car.
I've I tried the following to set up the remote:
1 - put the switch on the ETAC to SET 2 - pressed the large button on the remote 3 - put the switch back to OFF 4 - got out of the car and tried the remote to lock the car - but it didn't work :(
As I said I don't know which switch position is which but i tried both ways. I also tried with both remotes.
Am I doing it right? Do I need to have the key in the ignition or anything? How do I tell which switch position is which?
Help!
austin.

Hi
Firstly thanks to Hyundaiownersclub for your help i mange to get my remotes working.
Gnash.... here is what you ned to do.
On my Hyundai the set position is closest the engine. So push the switch towards the engine. Next you need to lock and unlock each remote. So if you are trying to program two remotes you need to press the lock button on each one then the unlock button on each one. Then push the switch back towards the back of the car.
Hope this helps.

Just realised my post is slightly unclear. Here is a step by step....
1. Push switch to set 2. Press lock on remote number 1 3. Press lock on remote number 2 4. Press unlock on remote number 1 5. Press unlock on remote number 2 6. Push switch to Off.

Hi Shayagalpert,
Thanks for your help - all very clear. I tried it but unfortunately it didn't work, I also tried it with just one remote. Perhaps there's a fault with the unit in the car. I'll keep trying though..
Cheers,
austin

Austin,
I've just repaired my keyfob (it would unlock, but not lock the car since I bought it 2nd hand) and am wondering if you are experiencing a similar problem - can you feel the buttons click under your thumb when you press them? If not, it might be all gunked up like mine was...
Here's what I did to fix it: Split the key as if to replace battery. Pull on the rubber seal to remove the circuit board from the plastic case. Push the circuit board out from the rubber cover and turn it over. The two buttons have lock and unlock written beside them, slide a thin piece of metal (a flathead screwdriver will do) between the button and the board and twist, there's a tiny latch try not to break it. The piece that comes up is in two sections, pop the circle through the bottom of the square section and clean any residue out from where they contact inside. Replace the circular piece into the square, relatch it onto the board and test the button, it should click. Reassemble the whole key.
You might have to go through setting the ETAC unit as well if this is not the original key.
Good luck!
