Anyone else experience/notice this strange vibration/sound?? When I'm driving at or faster than 50kmh, if I lower one or both of the rear windows, a very distinct humming/vibrating sound begins emanating from around the window opening. I assume it must be because of the i30's window shape/design but am not sure. It's pretty irritating coz I can hear the humming/vibration right in my inner ear...it sounds like a flag fluttering in the wind or something similar!
Any ideas??

Sounds like the sound I used to get when I opened the sunroof in my 03 Santa Fe. Thumping low tones. Someone likened it to the thump of a helicopter's rotor blades. My solution was to crack another window to break the airflow or pressure difference that caused it.

Maybe the i30 is similar because of the aerodynamics of the body?

Not really helpful, I know but how about sharing some pics of your new car? I'm considering one when the come out here in the states but I still can't find interior specs for them. (It has to have enough room in the back seat for 2 child seats.)

^^Yeah, that's all you can really do. The airflow through the car with your window's in that position is causing the noise. My Elantra does it if I only open the sunroof.

Pretty sure there's something about it,and how to avoid it in the user manual. Also pretty sure this will just be a case of opening another window, but if I remember I'll try and check it out over the weekend.

thank for the advice...there are better pics of course of the i30 on the Hyundai Int'l website, or on the Aussie and UK sites--specs should be there, too---I reckon for sure you could fit two baby seats in the back.
I think this car will be a big seller in the States and Canada.
