I have been running a K+N replacement filter element in my trajet for a year now and can't praise it enough ,

ok it cost more initially but you never have to replace it so, long term, its a good buy ,

the van is deffinately more responsive since fitting it and there is certainly a bit more oomph throughout the rev range,

also there isn't the ( boy racer ) induction roar you would get with a full induction kit .

any one else tried one ?

Yes, tried that and now its back to stock. Why? I found that using K&N filter will also invite more dust in. Try taking a look into your throttle body, using a tissue paper to wipe the inner part of the body...the paper will be BLACK with sticky oil. If yours c/w with Air flow sensor at the air box, take a look as well, you'll surprise. But to be fair, performance do improve a little bit coz more air are coming in which equates to more fuel being burned thus more power.

After cleaning the whole TB I use the OEM filter, honestly not much different in term of power but in fact more smoother and even more quieter to drive. Low end improve alot as compare to K&N. After 6 months, I inspect the TB expecting Black oil stain, to my surprised, the tissue was clean without any black oily stain appear.

Well, this is my conclusion about K&N but its up to individual to weigh the pro and cons of this filter. :)

Hi TrajetXG ,

Yes ! the truth is there , more air that meant filteration not good....eventhough K&N not required to be replace for long term but you need to clean it frequently.

BTW,
Where u get your imported bodykit in singapore , very nice and planned to get for my jet.

very fair points , but if you regularly clean and oil the K+N the dust shouldent get past it ,

perhaps the UK is not as dusty as Singapore and malaysia

I agree. I've used K&N filters on my last 5 cars with zero problems with oil on the MAF. Just keep the filter cleaned and oiled correctly (no over-oiled) and you should be fine.

hello!!

i want to install one of those pod filters to my trajet as well, is there anything that i should take notice or be aware of like to have the ecu re-programmed? or used the factory pipes / tubes. 'cos i noticed the air sensor is too close to the factory filter box? would there be any problems if i fiddle with this sensor? or should i used those aftermarket pipes the performance shops sells, should i consider the same lenght of pipes/ tubes as what i have with the factory filter? "cos i'm just too cautious to fiddle with anything that has to do with the engine bay?

hope you could post some photos as well. thanks....... :460:

Hi ,
Mines not a pod filter , its a K+N panel filter ,
it fits in the original housing so no modifications are required to the ecu or pipework.
its a direct replacement for the original filter and you never have to replace it
( well its warranteed for 1,000,000 miles )
you just have to remove it , clean it , reoil it and refit it at the recommended mileages

so although its more expensive to buy than a standard filter it will soon recover the outlay as you will never have to replace it .

hi!!!

thanks for the tip, anychance you could give me the part number for the filter for the trajet, 'cos i asked this friend of mine who is a parts interpreter and said they don't have one for the trajet.
by the way, i asked this mechanic friend also about the pod filter, he said it has it's advantages and disadvantages, but he rather want me to stick with the factory filter. anyway, again, i thank you very much for the tip, i'll check tomorrow with other car accessory shop if they have one for the trajet.......thanks again, mikey taker......

I should think a K & N on any Hyundai will work well as I think most Hyundai's seem to run a map which is slightly rich and would benefit from more air although most CAI's system's are useless so beware if you intend to go down that route.
