Hello.
My name is Robert and I work at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, LLC in Montgomery, Alabama.
Every year, HMMA hosts an event for its Team Members and families. This year's event is scheduled for mid-May. As part of the event, we are planning a car show including production, concept and tuner vehicles.
Production and concept vehicles we can get our hands on. The last part is why I am here. I would like to gauge interest among the members of this forum to see how many people would like to show their cars at this event.
Of course, there will be certain restrictions. For starters, it must be a Hyundai and it must have qualifications of a show vehicle. In other words, it cannot be a stock production vehicle. In return for your time and presence, you will have access to the event, including tour, entertainment, refreshments and food, etc. HMMA will NOT pay for transport of vehicles or other expenses associated with attending the event.
That is all the information I can convey at this time. I must emphasize that this is all tentative. There are many details to be finalized in the coming months, and right now is only time to see how much interest there is. So if you're interested, please post here.
I'm a car and motorcycle guy, so you will be working with someone who possesses an understanding of the culture and the passion. I look forward to hearing from Hyundai enthusiasts.
Thanks!

Very interested, I just have to get through my treatment OK and I'll be there. Possible with my Tuned Accent SR. So if I make it, save me a spot!
So if anyone else from the NW is planning to drive down, maybe we can all get in contact with each other and group up or pair up drivers to make the trip faster.

As the event date nears, we will have an official, structured sign-up process. Please have patience until then. For the time being, we're just gauging interest.
Thanks!

QUOTE(crayb @ Feb 3 2008, 05:12 PM) So if I'm understanding this right, if you're not heavily modded you're not invited?? Ray Basically, if you have anything aftermarket on your car you'd pretty much qualify. Hopefully we'll get plenty of advance notice as those coming from further than about an ~8 hour drive will need to make plans for possibly a two night stay. Unless they're just looking for locals.

We are not at the "invitation" level just yet. We are preparing some documents and info packs for people who would like to attend the event. Once the forms are signed and filled out, and returned to us, we would send out the official invitation. There are legal issues involved, so it will take some time to sort everything out.
But rest assured that everything is being worked on. However, it is a time-consuming process as the auto exhibition is only a part of the whole event project. Please bear with us and we'll provide more information as soon as it becomes available, preferably well in advance so that everyone will have time to make preparations.
I hope that clarified some things. Please feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions or post here.
Thank you!
Robert

We've got the green light. :)
Anybody who is interested in attending the event, please contact me at ihnchu@hmmausa.com. There is an information packet I need to send to you, and forms for you to fill out and return to me electronically. Once your submission is approved and confirmed, you will receive a notification.
If our spam filter blocks you out or if I don't return your e-mail with the info pack, then please send me a PM on the forum.
Once again, the event date is May 10, 2008 at the Hyundai plant in Montgomery, AL. There will be approximately 11,000 people in attendance including our Team Members and their families. You will be our guests as part of the Auto Exhibition program. Other details will be included in the information packet.
Thanks to everyone for their patience and support for Hyundai. We look forward to and take pleasure in being your host for this great event. Hope to see you here on May 10th!!
Robert

After much thought, and reviewing the documents, I'll be bowing out. The "Rules" are way off base - much more so than anything I'd agree to. QUOTE Once you have parked your vehicle on display, you will be required to leave it as is until the end of the event or otherwise announced by the event committee. Approximate closing time of the event will be 9 PM. QUOTE Specifically, no bare mid-drifts, sleeveless shirts, The middle of Alabama in the summer and we can't wear tank tops ?? QUOTE There will be no unauthorized filming or photography at the event. Any breach of this will lead to confiscation of the equipment. Confiscation of my equipment ? Not likely. At most they could ask you to leave. Sure, it's the Hyundai plant but they can't declare martial law. And a car show where you can't take pictures ??? I can understand not in the plant itself, but outside is ridiculous. QUOTE HMMA may record the event by film, video, or audio. Your attendance at the event shall constitute your approval for inclusion within the recording and your permission for HMMA to make full use of the recordings. Ahh, the old "do as I say not as I do" routine. QUOTE HMMA and its security personnel reserve the right to conduct security searches at the event. Again, ain't gonna happen. Now that my little rant is out of the way ... Robert, this is by no means directed at you - you had nothing to do with these rules. :57: I really doubt many people that "read" the rules will turn out, in my opinion.
