My a/c control unit is indicating that the temperature door potentiometer (part of the a/c system) is faulty in my Hyundai terracan 2002 (4wd).
My a/c compressor won't start hence no cold air !
Does anyone know where this is located ?

According to the manual, the Temperature control actuators (potentiometers) are installed in the heater case unit.

Hope this helps. What part of Oz are you in? I am in Sydney.

I am in Wollongong..

I've just had Hyundai look at my car and they reckon the faulty potentiometer won't stop my a/c working.?????

I chased the fault and found the problem goes back to the engine ECU not allowing the a/c relay to pickup.(it has a control line back to the relay coil)

What things does the ECU look at that will stop it allowing the compressor relay to pickup?

Hyundai tell me the ECU is $1200 ?????...I can't believe this??

This may sound silly, but have you checked the fuse for the A/C clutch?

If you go down some previous posts here you will see where you can download the workshop manual from a Russian site. This has a good diagnostic section for the A/C.

I have a copy of this on CD if you ever get to Sydney.
