 Cruise Control, Curise control indicator light is off

Hi memebers,

I observered that the dashboard indicator light for curise control is off even after main cruise switch on on my terracan 2002, manual transmission model. Cruise system is functional and i am using it.

I would be appreciated if anybody can assist me on this regard.

I have no cruise control on my manual transmittion.
Please answer. How crusise control change gears if speed down on steep ascent?
