I have a 2000 Elantra with a bad license lamp and lens. I ordered a part from an online Hyundai parts supplier who required a VIN. The lamp socket I received from them isn't the right one. It's more an oval shape and bigger while the harness plug is smaller and alsmost square. Anyone ever heard of that. I'm about to pull a mickey mouse and use 2 generic connectors on the contacts and seal the whole mess with electrical tape. I thought I'd try here first to see if there are others with the same problem and what they did.

Dear ghack,

Sounds like a clean miss by the parts warehouse. Sounds like you got the license lamp and lens for the XD model Elantra debutting in 2001.

I advise you try to return the incorrect part and get the right part.

Thanks Byron. That makes sense. I'll see about returning it.
