Hi Guys.

I'm getting some running boards put on the car and am gonna be putting clearance lights on the outsides of the boards - 3 little orange lights per board (L&R).

I'm just gonna tap into the parking lights wiring to do this, but does anyone have a schematic for the lighting?

Possibly a scan of a workshop manual someone can email me?

Cheers,
Grande

^^^^ Best place for a schematic.

On a related note, be careful how many new bulbs you put on the parking lamp circuit. The BCM ( I think thats the right name for the computer that controls electrical stuff) will cut off a circuit if too much load is put on it prior to blowing the fuse.

We have a small camper we tow with the Entourage and we hooked up our hitch lighting to the left tail light. There are 11 bulbs with all of the marker lights on the camper that come on with the parking lights. When hooked up directly they would all flash and go out along with the van's left tail light as soon as they were switched on.

The solution was to buy a converter that plugs directly into the vans battery power. The converter takes the input from the tail light and activates the converter. Then the converter takes power from the battery to illuminate the lights on the camper.

I hope that made sense. It drove us nuts till we figured out what was happening.

Pop Up Camper Forum post from a Sedona owner that ran into this issue.

Another forum post that shows this device installed.

Consider using LED lighting. Initially more expensive but lasts much longer and the LEDs draw practically nothing so they won't impact your "computer". One diode draws approx. 15 milliamps (mA)....so a light with five such diodes equals 60 milliamps ....so you could have almost 17 lights that would draw one amp. ( 1000÷60)

I've had good luck buying from this outfit on Ebay.
