Talked to the Admin and he's aware of the problem(s). The site is in the process of being migrated to a faster server but he'll have them fixed as soon as he can.

He's aware of it and will reply, I'm sure, when it's done. It's not like the servers are sitting in his living room. He's probably at the mercy of the ISP.
