Hey all - brand new to the board and found some great info so far. Here's my problem:
Just swapped a friend for a 93 Excel which had been sitting for a few years. She said it always bogged out on hills when she drove it. I swapped out the fuel filter and took a run up a long hill and sure enough it dies upon acceleration. First thought is catalytic converter - the car runs fine on normal streets but dies on the hills immediately. Any suggestions?

Dear nosk,
How many miles on this 1993 Excel? Do you have any compression left in the cylinders? When is the last time the fuel injectors were cleaned? How old are the spark plugs and ignition cables? When was the timing belt last changed? Is the engine in time? Are any of the valves burned...this will show in a compression test.
