Hyundai has released the first official photo renderings of the automaker's upcoming rear-wheel-drive coupe.

The Concept Genesis Coupe that will eventually make it into production form is going to be officially unveiled in a few weeks at the LA Auto Show. We'll be there first hand to show you the photos.

It is rumored that the coupe is going to get the same 300+ horsepower V8 as the Genesis sedan as well as a V6.

The Tiburon will still get a replacement based on the veloster concept.

Wrong, that IS the Tib replacement.

Also, this is a more realistic rendering of it from Road and Track magazine:

Lack of power? Care to race my Tib with your Accent? (J/K) Sure, the Tib is not a Mustang GT but the Tib easily keeps up with its competition (Celica, RSX, Eclipse). Granted 2 of those are 4-cylinder cars vs a V6 in the Tib but the 2.7 Delta is a small V6. And both those 4-cyl cars are no longer available (Celica and RSX)

yah by the time the new rwd hyundai coupe (whatever it may be called) comes out the new Z car will be out with either a 3.7 litre like the the new G37 or a 3.8litre like the Nissan GT-R but it'll be Naturally aspirated and will prolly push out between 330-360hp. A V8 in the coupe would be nice.

Dear Nova,

Love the look! If we couild only get the latest and greatest Nissan 3.x or 4.x liter engine in it so we could be competitive.

Screw Nissan, the new Tib WILL be competitive. How does a 300-hp 3.8L V6 sound?

Very nice, I saw this the other day and was impressed. I kept reading spy reports about it having a V8 over the last year or so but with the power the six will have, I think that would be sufficient. ;) The V6 is the 3.8 out of the Azera/Veracruz, right? And I read in another article that put displacement at 2.0L for the turboed four (200 HP.) Is that still the Beta, I wonder?

Shouldn't be that much longer until the car is officially shown at LA. :w00t:

like i said on the other post, don't get me wrong i love this car...

but if it's gonna start selling in 2009, cars will definitely get better than 300 hp, especially since every company hates hyundai, basically.

probably gonna start getting desperate newer models with ultimate hp

i'd rather have a turbo 4 cylinder than a v8..... you'll get more pull with the turbo.. and get more lag with the v8.... (boost gets you laid). LOL

I have a hard time believeing the tibby (And I've owned two at once, both the SE & GT see my link below ) will out run a 263hp Eclipse...I'd have to see it to believe it.
Eclipse
SE-V6
Engine Type: 3.8L MIVEC
Engine Block: Cast Iron
Cylinder Head: Aluminum
Displacement (cu in): 3828
Horsepower @ RPM (BHP): 263 @ 5750
Torque @ RPM (lb-ft): 260 @ 4500
Redline (rpm): 6500
Bore x Stroke (mm): 95.0 x 90.0
Compression Ratio: 10.5:1
Valvetrain: SOHC 24-Valve
Alternator: 110 Amp
Fuel System: Electronically-controlled, sequential multi-port injection

Tiburon
2.7L, 24-valve, DOHC V6
Horsepower @ rpm 172@6000
Torque (lb.-ft.) @ rpm 181@3800
Compression ratio 10.0:1
Valve train DOHC 24-valve
Exhaust Dual

And if those cars are like most concepts...the production car will be tame once it comes out and look almost nothing like it.

Nova..Please. The new Altima coupe will blow your doors off.
How does a 300-hp 3.8L V6 sound? <~~ Sounds good if it ever happens......But with gas prices such as they are and where the Tibby will be placed in the line up I doubt it ever happens......I could be wrong. Time will tell.
Altima coupe
VQ35DE — 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6
Horsepower — 270 hp @ 6,000 rpm
Torque — 258 lb-ft @ 4,400 rpm
Emissions — Tier 2, Bin 5
Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS)
Variable intake system
Nissan Direct Ignition System with iridium—tipped spark plugs
Electronic drive-by-wire throttle
Engine balancer system

The Turbo engine is the new Theta II engine. Should give some good benefits to the Theta engine other than turbocharging.
