We recently had our 2002 Santa Fe detailed at 100K miles. After we picked it up from the detailer, it began slipping out of drive into overdrive (#2). The vehicle is an automatic. Neutral to Drive puts the car in 3rd Overdrive, but as we stop it slips slowly into 1st until we've arrived at a complete stop.

We recently checked the tranny oil before a road trip and the levels were fine. We checked again when the problem occurred and we need more fluid.

Wanted to get everyone's opinion. Do you think the problem could be:

A) A sensor issue affecting the shifting.
B) Obviously, we need more fluid and this will fix the problem.
C) Our automatic transmission is failing.

In the States, how much would it cost to repair A or C if you think that might be the problem. Your opinion is helpful. Thanks in advance.

Woah, I'm having this exact same problem. I had a mobile detailer come to my office today to detail my 2002 Santa Fe (with only 41k miles). As soon as I drove it off, I had the exact same problem as described by the previous poster.

Did the detailer bork my car? I'm not an expert but want to be informed of the possible nature of the problem and to know what I need to do to get it fixed. Should I have the detailer take responsibility it or just take it do my dealer? Is there anything I can check on my own (transmission fluid?) to help diagnose the problem?

Any response would be appreciated - especially if it's a quick one. :) It's my birthday on the 4th and I have lots going on and really need to be able to drive my poor jacked up Santa Fe. I think I only have tomorrow to arrange for repair. Thanks for helping a newbie!
