Having a few problems with my head lights. The other week I noticed that the dipped head light on my right (driver) hand side doesn't work.

Last weekend I changed the halogen bulb but there is no difference. I later discovered that the main head light on the same side doesn't work when the engine is off but works perfectly when engine is running. I'd never noticed this before but wasn't in the habit of checking my lights when the engine was off so it may have been like that for a while.

I'm guessing it could be an electrical fault but don't know for sure so thought I'd run it by you guys.

the headlights won't work unless the ignition is switched on. check the fuse for your dipped headlight as each side has it's own fuse

headlights (dipped and main) work on the left side without the ignition being on but I'll have another look at the fuses.

Hello,

I realize this is a rather old thread (from Oct. 2007), but it was the closest to my question, so figured I'd "reply" to it and see if anyone can help.

It's unclear to me ,from the posts here, whether the Hyundai's Headlights (I have a 1996 Accent) are SUPPOSED to only work when the ignition switch is set to ON (or Start), or whether it's indicative of a problem (electrical or otherwise).

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Hmm, it seems that the rear lights and the side (orange) front headlights are the only ones that stay on when the ignition is off. I thought all 90s cars were this way, but I could be wrong.

Thank you for your reply.

And yes... I forgot to mention that the side (parking) lights DO go on even with the ignition not being on, but the headlights don't. (didn't notice whether the taillights were affected)

I suppose if neither the headlights or the parking lights came on with the ignition off, that would seem to be more of a defect or electrical short. But with the parking lights unaffected, it would seem to indicate that it's by design.

Thanks again.
