Hi all,

I am thinking of buying a brand new Accent GLS, the model here in malaysia features a 1.5L DOHC engine 4 drs sedan 91 ps/5500rpm. going for about RM65k (or ~us$17k). No ABS, no Airbag. but I heard that the resell value is low. Elantra 1.6L cost about us$5k more. any advice welcome!

thanks.

Accent's performance is better than Elantra. Although the resale value is low accent's look and performance is better than elantra.

Hehee... funny how it seems that when it comes to buying cars in malaysia, resale value is always the main concern. In my view, it seems that any car you buy nowadays have a low resale value. Even Protons. Check the papers and compare those prices to when they bought them new. Here's my advise. Buy something YOU like and don't let the resale value bother you. You're gonna lose money anyways when you sell it.... so better lose a little more money for something you like than lose less money for something you gonna regret buying.

wonder how much it would cost to send an accent to malaysia? They sell for 17,000, buy them here for 9,000 and sell them for 14,000?

Only problem with that theory is that they drive on the left-hand side of the road, from what I remember, so conversion costs to convert from LHD to RHD would rule it uneconomical.
