Hello,
I have done a search through the forums and found similar topics but nothing for my exact model and no one ever replies with what fixed their problem. I also checked the recommended site (Hmaservice.com) but it just said to replace the coil, which I've read is only the problem about 20% of the time.
I have a 1998 Accent with just barely over 100k miles.
It starts, idles, runs and drives perfect. No squeeky belts, no knocking from the engine, no smoke, ect. The problem arises when the engine has been idling for 20+ minutes or I have been driving for more than 10. The car shuts off and it is impossible to start. When I attempt to start it in this situation it turns over great but just sits there without starting.
I replaced the fuel filter and konw the fuel pump is in good order. Tested all the spark plugs and recently put on new spark plug wires (about a week ago). When I'm attempting to start it in the 'warm' state there is no spark. I did an electrical test on the camshaft posistion sensor and it is getting the 5 volts power it needs, but my repair manual says it should be pulsing 5 volts, which i cant seem to get it to do.
I also removed and inspected the coil for damage/leaks but it seems to be in good order.
My guess is that its either the coil, the camshaft posistion sensor, or the crankshaft posistion sensor.
Any help would be awesome.
Thanks
