I'm at my wits end here. My gf's 01 Tib (manual) now has a rear vibration/loud whir.

I'm changed all 4 pads and discs. I've also replaced both rear wheel bearings.

After the last wheel bearing I was confident that this was the problem. After test driving for about 1/2 hour I took the last turn to come into the neighborhood and there it was again.

Originally it was first heard on the highway. Then I took it and it took me a while at 45 mph to hear it. Then from there it was present at normal 25-35 driving.

Originally when you pressed on the brake the noise would go away. (leading me to believe it was the brakes). This was still the case after the brakes were done. So this also led me to believe it was the bearings. Obviously not though.

The only other thing in the back of the vehicle looks to be the fuel pump. Could that be making this noise? Anyone else gone through this. I'm not one for just throwing parts at the problem but now I'm past what I would consider good maintenance practice.

thanks
steve

Have you checked the spare tire? Maybe it's a little bit loose...

After going through it a bunch of times.. It was the caliper slide bolt that was sticking. This was the only wheel that didn't have new slide bolts on it.

It does now, I've also changed over to using Brake Grease (moly) instead of the other high heat stuff I was using before. Hopefully it won't happen again for a long time.

Steve .. I have to be honest, I really hate this car.
