HI, I am the new owner of a 2005 2.7L Automatic Trajet. We have a Honda Jazz but wanted something to transport the kids and their mates.
I picked it up from the dealer this morning and coming down the freeway noticed a lot of vibration at 100km.
I know that this is probably a wheel balancing problem, the tyres appear to be new but there is no evidence of balancing. I was wondering if anyone could come up with anymore possibilities before I confront the dealers and listen to their excuses.
The car was previously owned by the dealers and used to transport service customers to town whilst their cars were being serviced so as you would imagine it has been fully serviced although it does have 74K on the clock.
Thankyou

it does look like a balance problem. I have only seldom seen that a new tire does not need any balance weights.

Hi,

The first thing you look for is balancing the tyres, of course, but first establish if the vibration comes from the steering or the body.

I have this same problem. Do you feel the vibration coming from the steering wheel or the body?

The problem I had was coming from the body. The vibration starts at 90 km/h and tapers off at slightly higher than 100 km/h, and especially pronounced when accelerating within this speed range. When I am driving alone, the seat next to me rattles alot.

I had the tyres balanced 3 times, including on wheel balancing or what they called ""high speed balancing". The balancing does not solve the problems, as the vibration does not come from the steering.

This morning I sent the car in to replace the front shafts, normally called half-shafts. I believe the problem comes from the half-shafts.

I will test the vehicle when I get it back this evening, and will post to see if the problem is arrested.

Cheers!

Hi, All,

Got my car back!!

Replaced the half-shafts. No shaking and vibrations now, when travelling between 90km/h to 100km/h! Problem solved.

Therefore the problem is not in the tyre balancing, but the drive shafts.

I also replaced the engine mountings, 4 nos altogether. Now the dash board does not vibrates when the car is put into gear.

Good as new!!!!

Had the vibration problem as well.Starts at around 80km/h and will taper off after 100km/h unless under hard acceleration.Change both drive shaft like what iztsk suggested and my Trajet is good to go again. Thanks iztsk for sharinf the tips.

Hi everyone-this is my first post to the forum. Wanted to comment on the vibration issues. I have a 2005 Tucson AWD purchased new and it now has only 25,000 miles on it. At approximately 8,000 miles I too had vibration and slight shaking issues usually between 40-60 MPH. Nothing real serious but I knew something was'nt right. They first balanced and rotated the tires but that did'nt do the trick.Took it back and the dealer replaced both half shafts under warranty and that took care of the problem. It still seems strange to me that a virtually new car needed something like this replaced.

aside from wheel balancing, you should have your trajet(s) also have wheel alihngment.
