Hi, I'm new here. I know hardly anything about cars....dogs, yes, but cars??? Well, I know how to pump gas, change a tire, check my oil....that's about it.

I lost my keys and remote so I had to get replacements and since I didn't have my car at the dealer, I couldn't have the remote programmed.

I was told that I had to bring it to them so they can program the remote by using a computer. I was also told that I could not bring my car to any other dealer. In the past I have programmed a remote on my old car (a Subaru) with hardly any trouble. So, can I program my 2003 Santa Fe on my own? Are the instructions on the Service Technology Website? Or is it :o_75: ?

Thanks!

Yeah, you have to take it to "a" dealer to do it. Any Hyundai dealer should be able to program it.

I'm not sure if it'll work on an 03 Santa Fe , but on a 2001 Santa Fe it goes as follows : 1) Locate switch under dash, behind fuse box; 2) Turn ignition switch on, but don't start engine; 3) Wait 5 seconds, set memory switch to SET position; 4) Press remote LOCK button; press second remote transmitter LOCK button; 5) Set memory switch to OFF; 6) Switch ignition OFF. 7) Confirm programming by locking and unlocking vehicle . It probably will work on yours , but if it does'nt you won't hurt anything by trying . Good Luck !

just thought I'd let everyone know -- the off/set switch was removed after mid 2004 models. Its not there on the 2005 and 2006.

Believe me...I tried to find it for 90 minutes before I went back to the net and finally discovered...it doesn't exist on my car.

(sigh)

Yep...he's right.

Build up to 5.22.2004: Switch under dash
Build from 5.23.2004: Must be reprogrammed with Hi-Scan (learned this the hard way...check my Santy's DOB)
