No noises, just floods out, then you take out the fuse, put the excelerator to the floor, turn over the engine, it will then start, it will rev up and start to die ,and then you put back in the fuse quickly and it will stay running.

Hi people I have a '93 S Coupe LS 1.5l. Its sounds like I'm having similar problems. I find it starts ok when its cold, but when it is warmed up and I have only stopped for a little while (15mins or so) it turns over but wont start. Its like it floods itself and I have to wait for it to cool down and eventually it starts with a lot of fuel smell out the back. Any help would be appreciated. Also where would I find the temp and the air sensors? Thanks, Bobbi
ps: lol - haven't tried pulling the fuse as of yet!

Okay, so in my ongoing quest to get to the bottom of this starting mystery....i have been slowly replacing parts left right and center with no avail. UNTIL today. I have now replaced the:
Rotor/Distributor Cap Spark plug wire leads battery ground wire Crank Angle sensor spark plugs.....
Now today i replaced the "COOLANT TEMP SENSOR" and my car seems to be fully operational without breakdowns!!! I warmed up my car and ran the sh*t out of it for at least a hour, then parked it to wait and see if it would start again. FIRST CRANK within a few miliseconds she fired up and was fully operational again. I started it again and drove for another hour to warm it up real good, went into wal-mart for 20 mins and came back and she started first shot again. Im so happy to have my Scoupe on the roads again.
For those of you who experiance this problem/dilemma, of your car crapping out (see my previous posts above to see symptoms), heres my guided instructions on how to repair it and get your car back to normal. I assume no repsonsabilitiy for your repairs. See a mechanic if need be, but even a blind monkey can do this. It took me about 30 mins including the draining of the rad and test driving to complete this.
STEP 1: Go to the local parts shop and buy 8 liters of premixed universal anti-freeze, and buy a "Coolant Temp Sensor" as well.(make sure you get a SENSOR NOT a SENDER) All This cost me $50 Canadian funds at Part Source.
STEP 2: Go home and let your engine cool off for a bit. Drain the rad of all sh*t antifreeze(may as well start fresh and give it a good flush). The drain for the rad is on the left hand bottom of the rad(looks like a butterfly wingnut but black and plastic). When drained close the valve again.
STEP 3: If you follow the rad hose from the top left-hand side of the rad where it meets the rad it will hook into the motor there(this is the thermostat). Look directly below that. You will see 2 wires conneceted to two seperate connections. You will need to unhook both of these to get the sensor out. Now get a wrench and undo the sensor. The sensor you will be removing should be the first one(the one closest to the thermostat on top)
STEP 4: Install the new sensor and reconnect the wires to the appropriate connections.
STEP 5: Open the rad resivour and top it up to the fill line, now open the rad and fill it up to the top. Take the car for a quick 10-15 minuite spin and turn off the car. The resivour should be down a little top it back up again.
STEP 6: ENJOY your fully functional Scoupe to the best of its abilities!!!!
Good luck to all i hope this fixes your cars as it did mine. :)
If someone requests pictures i will take some to show details of where the sensor is located, but you should be able to find it no problem.
Your friend NOT stuck on the side of the road or at the gas station... -Stony
PS: this repair was done on a 1993 Hyundai Scoupe LS. Turbo model may differ.
