Or if you don't have a heat gun and fishing line handy, leave your car in the sun for a few hours and use dental floss. Worked quite well for me.

Yep, left ours in the sun for a few hours and used a plastic credit card. Put some good cleaner wax on the area when your done to remove all the residue. Now we need something to replace the "H" in the trunk divot.

Didn't trust the gun on the paint. Soaked in (alot) Goo-Gone pulled off with fingers.

There are things to replace the H but your trading the H for someone elses name. Studie has a button as well as others online.

I recently did mine... since it's summer, wait for a really hot day, then take some fishing line/dental floss and work your way through the badge. There will be a bit of residue left, but nothing that can't come off with a bit of rubbing (or goo-gone). It's a fairly painless process.

However, if you are planning on de-badging the crooked-H's, I believe those are "bolted" on, so those may be a bit more difficult and will expose the two holes behind it (unless you're planning replace tehm with something else, then the holes don't matter).

I used painters masking tape around the letters, then fishing line on a hot day.

The Hs are held on with two phillips screws from behind, I need to remove and paint my rear H to match the front.

Fishing line to get the badges off, then WD40 to get the residue off. Worked nicely for me.

I used my fingernails, pulled gently and steadily, each letter popped off with the tape intact, in case you want to reposition or replace them. Make sure the car is clean to start with. A credit card will help get you started under each letter. :57:

"Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!" **

I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet!

I've been thinking of doing this. I'm not even sure why I want to. I'd really rather dispose of the flying H, but Hyundai made sure we can't just pop those off, and have it look OK.

Has anyone here removed the front H and repainted it? I's love to do a black-out on it, but I'm afraid the paint would chip/flake right off.

Well, I went with the suggestions, and lifted the letters with a credit card on a warm day.

Worked great, left only a little residue. I cleaned the residue with a luguid car wax, then waxed the end of the trunk.

I'm glad I did this while the Sonata is new (no paint-fade). I like the clean look.

Now, about those flying H's......... I think it would be nice to pull the rear one, and paint it in body-matching paint. Then pull the front one, and do that in a satin black.

This is a quote from Blazing Saddles.

Well, sort of. It was in Blazing Saddles, but the origianl movie quote was from "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre". The quote was used a lot more, after "Blazing Saddles" came out.

Back on topic....

I REALLY like the debadged look. Maybe only because it makes the car more "mine" than "Hyundai's".

And since it's a silver four door, it's about as stealth as a car can be, these days.

Now that you're standing there with a handful of shiny letters, you may be thinking "can I reaarange these letters into something funny or ironic?

Well, here's a list of all the words that you can make from the letters "hyundaisonata".

Pick and choose, and glue them back on so you are driving a car called "A Tad Noisy" or "Nasty Audio" or "Satan Hound" or "Anti Honda" or "Untidy Ho's" or "Nudist Ahoy", how about "Dunno Sh*t"......
