Hi guys, I've got a 1.5l Getz. When I decelerate the engine makes a really loud 'tappet' or 'lifter' noise (I think). The service manager at Makin-Luby Hyundai told me that it was 'lifter flutter' when I took it for a service and that it was normal. I've got to say that I don't really believe him, but am unsure.

Can anyone tell me if this noise is 'normal'?

Does anyone have any ideas what this noise might be?

Thanks guys.

Paul

I've never had any problem like this but have heard of it happening at aroundabout 1500rpm - 2000rpm just when the engine is slowing down, i dont think its a big problem mate.
Is yours the Diesel CDX?

If its really loud maybe take it to another hyundai garage to let them have a look at it. i've heard of a few others cars doing this. Cant really remember whats causes it.
